CTIA announces Verizon to integrate BCID™ in its network

We’ve just seen an announcement from CTIA that it has signed a contract with Verizon to integrate Branded Calling ID (BCID) on Verizon’s wireless network. This is big news for voice service providers and consumers. Let’s have a look.

BCID provides a way for enterprise callers to deliver trusted and secure Rich Call Data (RCD) with their outbound calls. RCD can present the caller’s name, brand logo, and call reason on supported devices. This caller information increases the likelihood that the called party will answer the call.

Unlike some proprietary branded calling solutions, BCID is an industry-led, standards-based solution. Originating Service Providers can participate in providing this service to their enterprise customers.

Until now, T-Mobile was the only other large wireless carrier using BCID. With this Verizon announcement, a large portion of the market will be part of the BCID ecosystem. We expect that this will increase momentum for other voice service providers to join in offering this service to their customers.
