Struthers appointed director of the STI-GA
ATIS announced the appointment of the director of the Secure Telephone Identity Governance Authority (STI-GA). This will be a critical role in the deployment of the SHAKEN/STIR framework.
The SHAKEN/STIR framework will enable telecom service providers to:
- Deliver secure caller ID information to their customers
- Restore consumer trust in caller ID
- Help customers avoid unwanted robocalls, which use fake caller IDs
- Improve call completion rates.
Appointment of STI-GA director
Brent Struthers has been appointed director of the STI-GA. Before this appointment, Mr. Struthers worked at Neustar as their state government technical advocate on SHAKEN/STIR. Prior to this role, his industry experience included technical work and advocacy for a number of telecom issues, such as local number portability, thousands block pooling issues, SmartGrid, disaster recovery and more.
Other governance initiatives
The STI-GA has organized a task force and issued a request for proposal (RFP) for organizations that wish to be considered for the policy administrator (STI-PA) role. Candidate organizations should notify the RFP task force by email and send in their RFP response to the task force by February 4, 2019.
