Do-Not-Originate DNO blocking

TransNexus provides Do-Not-Originate detection, reporting, and blocking services. These services are available with our ClearIP and NexOSS software platforms.

Spoofed calling numbers

Fraudsters often spoof the calling number on their calls to trick consumers into answering their calls. The spoofed number enables them to impersonate a large well-known government organization, such as the IRS, or a private entity, such as an electric utility company. When a consumer sees an incoming call from that number, they might be more inclined to answer the call.

Do Not Originate

The entities that hold these calling numbers know that their numbers are being spoofed from callbacks they receive from consumers. Often, the calling numbers are inbound only—the organization never makes outbound calls from those numbers.

These organizations can protect their reputation, avoid time spent with upset customers, and prevent their customers from becoming victims of fraud, by registering these inbound-only telephone numbers with a Do-Not-Originate (DNO) call list.

Voice service providers can use these lists to identify, report on, and block these illegal calls.

DNO regulatory mandate

In the U.S., the FCC has issued a rule that all voice service providers in the call path must use a reasonable DNO list to block calls. This includes providers that originate, transit, and terminate calls.

DNO blocking benefits

Voice service providers gain many benefits from DNO blocking:

  • Easy compliance with the DNO mandate
  • Better robocall mitigation to prevent the origination of calls with DNO calling numbers
  • Improved network efficiency by removing fraudulent calls from your network
  • Enhanced robocall prevention so your subscribers are protected from fraudulent calls.

Fast, affordable compliance

For existing TransNexus customers, it’s easy to get started. Just configure the policies to enable DNO analysis on calls that you originate, transit, and terminate. The steps vary by platform. Contact us or open a service ticket if you have any questions about the process.

If you are not yet a customer, contact us to arrange a meeting for us to explain our DNO blocking solutions and learn about your network. We’ll show you how quick, easy, and affordable it can be to provision DNO blocking in your network.
