FCC releases robocall blocking guides for consumers
The FCC has published guides to help consumers stop unwanted calls and texts. Let’s have a look.
There are currently five PDF guides hosted on the fcc.gov website and listed on the Commission’s How-To Robocall Blocking Guides page:
- Android call blocking
- iPhone call blocking
- AT&T call blocking
- T-Mobile call blocking
- Verizon call blocking
The Android and iPhone guides provide instructions to use settings available in Android and iOS.
The AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon guides provide instructions to use service features and apps available with their voice and SMS services.
These are simple one-page documents with concise information about key features and services. Although many consumers might know this information, some might not.
Depending on how widespread these guides are publicized and promoted, they could bring more consumers to a base level of information to help them take advantage of capabilities they might have missed.
We encourage all voice service providers to find ways to communicate such information to their subscribers.
