DNO blocking deadline is almost here
The deadline to implement DNO (Do Not Originate) blocking is almost here. Let’s have a look.
The rule requires all providers in the call path to block calls that are highly likely to be illegal based on a reasonable DNO list.
Commission rules state that telephone numbers on a reasonable DNO list include invalid, unused, and unallocated numbers, as well as numbers for which the subscriber to the number has requested blocking.
A subscriber will request blocking calls to a number if they only use it to receive inbound calls and do not originate outbound calls with that number. Fraudsters sometimes spoof such numbers to trick their intended victims into answering their scam calls.
The effective date for this rule is December 15, 2025.
