Robocall trends in July 2024

Here’s a quick review of robocall trends through July 2024.

The source data is from YouMail’s Robocall Index, a widely followed measure of robocall activity in the U.S.

Overall robocalls up in July

Figure 1 shows that overall robocalls were up 4.1% in July. The dashed green line shows that robocalls over this date range continue a slight upward trend.

The bar chart at the bottom of Figure 1 compares robocalls in each month with the same month in 2023. Robocalls in July 2024 were down 4% from July 2023. So far, overall robocalls for each month in 2024 have been lower than the same month in 2023.

Scam robocalls down sharply in July

Scam robocalls were down 22% in July 2024, as seen in Figure 2. However, the dashed green line shows that scam robocalls remain on an upward trend due to the high levels in April through June 2024.

The bar chart at the bottom of Figure 2 shows that scam robocalls in July 2024 were 12% lower than the July 2023. Scam robocalls have been lower each month in 2024 versus the same month in 2023.
