FCC RMD enforcement order published, and deadline set
An FCC Enforcement Bureau order directing 2,411 companies to correct deficiencies in their Robocall Mitigation Database (RMD) filing has been published in the Federal Register. This sets the compliance date for this order. Let’s have a look.
Enforcement order
The Commission issued this order on December 10, 2024, in response to a widespread failure to comply with updated requirements for RMD certification and a robocall mitigation plan. We summarized the issues in a previous blog post: FCC issues an enforcement order for deficient RMD filings.
Response required
The enforcement order stipulated that each company must cure the deficiencies in its RMD certification and robocall mitigation plan and respond to the Commission by a deadline, which would be 14 days after publication of the order in the Federal Register.
Alternatively, the order states that a company may file a response explaining why the Bureau should not remove the company’s certification from the RMD.
To recap, these companies must:
- Cure the deficiencies in their certification and plan and
- Notify the Commission by mail or email.
Deadline
The order was published in the Federal Register on December 17, 2024, which sets the compliance deadline no later than December 31, 2024.
