FCC sets compliance date for updated TCPA rules

The FCC recently issued a decision on petitions to reconsider updated TCPA call limit rules. The compliance date for these rule changes has been announced. Here’s an overview.

These call limit rule changes were made in response to the TRACED Act. Section 8 requires the Commission to make its TCPA rules more specific in terms of callers, called parties, and call limits. Here’s a table listing the call limits:

Financial institution3 artificial or prerecorded voice calls or text messages per event over a 3-day period for an affected account. Voice calls and text messages may be sent only to the wireless number provided by the customer.
HIPAA-related1 artificial or prerecorded voice call per day
Max 3 artificial or prerecorded voice calls per week

The Commission’s ruling was published in in Federal Register on January 20, 2023. Today, they issued a public notice to set the compliance date for these rule changes on July 20, 2023.
