Out-of-Band SHAKEN goes to letter ballot

Specifications developed for Out-of-Band SHAKEN have gone to letter ballot on May 3, 2021. These specifications extend the current SHAKEN framework to enable service providers using TDM signaling in their network or interconnects to participate in the SHAKEN ecosystem without placing any new requirements on authorized SHAKEN service providers.

The closing date for letter ballot is June 17, 2021.

The Non-IP Call Authentication Task Force (NONIPCA) of the ATIS Packet Technologies and Systems Committee (PTSC) developed these standards. TransNexus has participated in developing these specifications.

The TransNexus ClearIP and NexOSS software platforms fully support the STIR/SHAKEN specifications described in the ATIS-1000074, ATIS-1000080, and ATIS-1000084 standards documents.

Out-of-Band SHAKEN builds upon these standards. Its use is optional. A voice service provider can use the software to perform standard SHAKEN on some calls and Out-of-Band SHAKEN on others as needed.
