Criminals using robocalls to target hurricane Harvey victims

If you or a family member are impacted by the flooding in Texas, please beware of criminals using robocalls to scam victims of the flood.

Texas residents are being called by criminals who tell them their flood premiums are past due and they can renew their coverage if they pay immediately. FEMA has warned people not to respond to the calls in any way and reminded all of us that insurance companies do not communicate with their customers via robocall. If a policy is past due, an insurance company will send you many pieces of mail before the policy expires.

Criminals who use robocalls as a tool to steal from the public are always out there, looking for opportunities (like national disasters) to strike.
