Acme Packet addresses E-SBC security
Acme Packet's security expert, Patrick McNeil, has recently posted an interesting article addressing E-SBC Security Architecture Considerations for SIP Trunking.
According to McNeil, "All SIP trunks can be vulnerable to a range of threats including reconnaissance, unauthorized access, session overloads, denial of service, SPAM over Internet Telephony and more. An enterprise session border controller (E-SBC) deployed at the demarcation point is the best way to deliver real-time SIP services while securing your internal network from these threats.
Firewalls, IDS, IPS, and malware detection devices provide effective security for data networks, but they can end up disrupting call quality and reliability when used to protect real-time communications."
