Text blocking compliance date set

The compliance date has been set for the new text blocking rule. Let’s have a look.

The new rule requires mobile wireless service providers to block text messages if the text message is from a NANP number that:

  • Is on a reasonable DNO (Do-Not-Originate) list
  • Is invalid, unallocated, or unused
  • The subscriber has asked the provider to block text messages from that number.

The compliance date is September 3, 2024.

The text blocking order was issued was released on March 17, 2023. The adopted rule is 47 CFR § 64.1200(p).
